We are developing a fine crop of white clover in our "lawn" to provide more bee-forage. Wife thinks that grass lawns are boring. One of many ways in which our world-views agree.

My definition of "lawn" is "whatever low-growing green stuff survives mowing and foot traffic." It includes many species of grass, white clover, tall red clover, short yellow clover, two kinds of plantain, several colors of violets, moss, and dandelions among others.

I like to buy Bee Lawn Mix to patch bare spots.

We have some thistle but we try to keep it out of the lawn part. It's okay in the prairie garden, where pollinators and birds love it.

I agree! Alas, very little grows without irrigation here. We have some amazing artificial grass.
